By accessing or using Unibuz, you consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the platform.

4. How We Collect Information

We collect information directly from you during registration and use, through Stripe (payments and Connect onboarding), via cookies, analytics and security tooling, from moderators reviewing reported content and safety issues, and from third-party integrations you enable or use.

5. Purpose of Collection

We collect and use personal information to: verify student status and maintain a student-only platform; operate platform features (events, marketplace, messaging, communities); prevent fraud, misuse and security incidents; enforce our Terms of Use and community standards; provide customer support and manage disputes; improve and personalise user experience; conduct analytics and performance measurement; comply with legal obligations and protect safety; and protect Unibuz's commercial interests. We reserve the right to use anonymised or aggregated data for commercial, research, analytics or partnership purposes.

6. Disclosure of Information

We may disclose personal information to: Stripe and related payment processing parties; cloud hosting and infrastructure providers; analytics providers; moderation contractors and safety service providers; professional advisers (legal, accounting, insurance); regulators and law enforcement where required or permitted; and event organisers (limited attendee information necessary for attendance management). We do not sell identifiable personal information.

7. Overseas Disclosure

Your data may be stored on servers located outside Australia (for example, where our cloud providers operate). By using Unibuz, you consent to cross-border transfer of your information.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable security safeguards, including encryption and access controls. However, no online platform can guarantee absolute security. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Unibuz disclaims liability for unauthorised access or misuse beyond our reasonable control. We may use artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning tools to assist with content moderation on Unibuz. These tools help us identify, assess and address content that may breach our Community Guidelines, including spam, abusive, unlawful or otherwise inappropriate material. AI systems may automatically flag, filter, restrict or remove content, and may prioritise content for human review. Where AI tools are used, we implement measures designed to ensure that no personal information is disclosed to or processed by external large language models (LLMs) for moderation purposes. While we take reasonable steps to promote accuracy and fairness, AI-assisted decisions may not always be correct. Users may contact us to request a review of moderation decisions where appropriate. We may also use AI-powered tools to provide automated translations of user-generated content and platform materials to improve accessibility and usability. These translations are generated automatically and may not always be accurate, complete or contextually appropriate. In delivering translation services, we apply technical and organisational safeguards to ensure that no personal information is transmitted to external LLMs. Users should not rely solely on automated translations for legal, medical, financial or other important matters. By using Unibuz, you acknowledge and accept that AI-assisted moderation and translation services are provided on an “as is” basis and are subject to inherent limitations and potential errors.

9. Data Retention

We retain information for the duration of your account, and as required for legal and operational purposes. Financial records may be retained for up to 7 years (or longer if required). We may retain de-identified data indefinitely.

10. Data Breach

If an eligible data breach occurs, we will comply with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Unibuz is not liable for consequential loss arising from a data breach except as required by law.

11. Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information (subject to legal limits). Contact us using the details in the Contact section.
